Introducing FLAME
An Anthology of Fire Poems and Prose
In FLAME, you will discover deeply personal reflections on the many ways that fire, in its countless variations, has shaped our lives. You will see that our poets have drawn from the metaphoric energy of fire to craft a diverse array of poems that eloquently express their talented singular voices. You will read stories and essays inspired by lived experiences, by childhood memories, by sometimes painful encounters with fire’s destructive consequences, and by philosophical musings on our always curious human condition. You will also recognize that there are obvious ways that our different cultural backgrounds and life circumstances influence our individual understandings of this essential force of nature.
The Story of Flame
This collection of poetry and prose is fashioned exactly after our first two anthologies -- WET and FERTILE – in which our collective of writers, all with deep ties to the Four Corners region of the Southwest and the Colorado Plateau, were asked to consider their personal, intimate relationship to fire— one of our four sacred elements. And they responded with fervor and thoughtfulness beyond our expectations.

Our first two anthologies are available at the Lithic Bookstore in Fruita, CO, and the Quill & Qwest Bookstore and the Farmington Museum in Farmington, NM. We will add new locations as they occur.
